Office of the Whistleblower

A whistleblower can provide a valuable public service by sharing information about securities misconduct that would otherwise be difficult to detect. Tips provided by whistleblowers help the Enforcement division of the Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) identify and investigate potential violations and take action to stop them. This allows the ASC to minimize harm to investors, better protect the integrity of the Alberta capital market and hold accountable those responsible for unlawful conduct. Examples of securities violations include illegal insider trading, fraud, misleading financial statements, disclosure violations, illegal distributions and unregistered trading.
